Registrations & Renewals

To Register a Vehicle (Car, Truck, SUV or Motorcycle) for the first time:

Bring with you:

  • Completed Registration Application, course MV-82
  • Completed Statement of Sale or Gift, grade DTF-802
  • Proof of Ownership
  • Proof of Identity and Date of Nascence
  • NYS Insurance Identification Card
  • Payment

If you are registering a vehicle for someone else, you must show your ID and bring a photocopy of the registrant'south ID/license or their original certificate. The registrant must sign all forms.  Please see the NYS DMV website for more information.

The Damage Disclosure Argument on the back of the New York State Certificate of Title must be completed for all vehicles regardless of the vehicle's age.

License Plates

If one or both of your vehicle plates were lost, stolen or damaged, you must surrender the vehicle registration to the DMV. Y'all must give up the remaining plate to DMV, if just one plate was lost, stolen or destroyed. If both plates were lost, stolen or destroyed, yous will need a police force report or MV-78B completed past a police agency. If yous cannot get a police report, y'all volition need to submit a written statement to DMV that includes your plate number.

Other Vehicle Transactions & Services

Drop boxes are available for Registration Renewals Just. Drib boxes are located at the Ballston Spa and Clifton Park locations for use at any time and at the Wilton location during the mall's business hours. Staff check drop boxes daily during business concern hours. Please permit up to 7 business days to receive completed registration materials in the post.

Instructions for using a Drop Box:

  • Sign the "Certification" on the back of your registration renewal application.
  • Enclose a check or money order payable to Saratoga County Clerk. Practice NOT ENCLOSE Cash.
  • Write your license plate number on the face up of the check or money lodge.
  • Sign the check or money gild.

We will postal service your completed registration to the address on the renewal application.

The seller must:

  • Complete and sign the transfer buying section of the title document and sign a bill of sale (fifty-fifty if information technology is a souvenir) OR

The buyer must:

  • Sign the bill of sale (even if information technology is a gift)
  • Pay sales revenue enhancement or have proof of an exemption

An interstate in-transit permit allows you to transport a vehicle from a location in New York State to a location outside of New York Land.
